But I bought this one yesterday thinking that you could put 6 pieces of bread into a "6 slice oven" and unfortunately 4 fit perfectly.

I decided to give this similar HB toaster oven a shot since we needed a new one pronto.
Overall we are pretty satisfied with it. The convection setting is better for toasting than the actual toast setting. This oven seems to take a bit longer to toast bread than our previous Cuisinart toaster oven that died. However, this oven provides relatively even toasting, though the slices towards the back of the rack seem to toast more than those up front by the door. The timer is an old-fashioned dial the ticks its way down to zero and then lets out a "ding." This oven isn't going to "wow" you in anyway, but it does the job without a problem.
5 of 6 people found the following review helpful Small Convection Oven, May 3, 2011 By This review is from: Hamilton Beach 31509 Convection 6 Slice/Broiler Toaster Oven (Kitchen) As mentioned in the other reviews, this is a small toaster.
It's small, compact, does its job, has a "convection" option which is amazingly efficient (compared to my old 4-slice toaster oven)
I picked it up for $40 on sale and, to me, its worth every penny.
My only gripe is that it's rather short (height-wise). Approx 11" total height, not clearance. There's not a lot of vertical space.
If you want to roast a chicken, bake a casserole this is NOT the toaster for you.
If you want to bake a frozen pizza, heat up some leftovers, or toast some bagels, this is perfect.
Read the manual and you won't have the issues mentioned by the others.
Simple things like:
* Read all instruction
* Always allow at least one inch between food and heating element
* Some foods burn and some are not done: Adjust oven rack position to center food in oven. Adjust oven temperature or cooking time for best results with your recipes
* How to toast:... Read more
